Universe of Altair logo

The "Universe of Altair" is a setting developed by Thomas Bullington. Originally intended for roleplaying, this setting has grown and developed for over a dozen years, and is still a work in progress. It has now evolved into a universe consisting of four interconnected planets, inhabited by numerous civilizations. In its latest form, the Universe of Altair is a fantasy analogue to 18th-century Europe, a world in which the ancient powers of magic are beginning to collide with the beginnings of modern science.

And yes, it is named for the star Alpha Aquilæ, for reasons that will have to remain very mysterious for now.

Overtures was an online roleplaying campaign started in February 2005. It originally consisted of three players with Tom as the DM/Storyteller. However, as inevitably happens, schedules conflicted, workloads increased, and, by 2006, the campaign had all but gone dormant . . .

. . . until one of the players, Amy Saunders, had a brilliant idea in 2007: why not turn Overtures into a graphic novel? Ever since, Amy and Tom have been slowly reviving the old campaign--Tom dusting off and editing the IRC logs, Amy doodling wildly in her sketchbooks--and refurbishing it into the form you now see.

Tom is a destitute college English teacher with a penchant for tea, scones, fancy neckwear, gardening, and Gnomes. He has been developing the Altair setting for over 12 years now, and is responsible for the majority of its content.
Amy is a freelance artist working as an illustrator, graphic designer, and 3D generalist. A chronic worrier and a fan of self-deprecating humor, she strives for steady improvement in her artwork by means of constant practice and study. She hopes to one day work on children's entertainment that is actually... Well, entertaining.
