Gnomes

The shortest and cleverest of the Uranian races, the Gnomes are renowned for their discovery of arcane magic (as opposed to natural or divine magic), as well as sundry other inventions, including the gunpowder cannon, the mundane printing press, the steam engine, the mechanical clock, and ice cream. Indigenous to the Gnome-Lands (located on the eastern shores of Tressendel), the Gnomes have risen to eminence through their alliance with the powerful Human nation of Branduin. The Gnome Lands are governed by a tricameral legislature consisting of a High Council, a Somewhat Higher Council, and a Very Important Even More Higher-ish Council, each elected through a complicated system of ballots.

The tallest Gnomes rarely exceed 3 feet, and their round noses and pointed ears often make for a comical appearance, especially when combined with their extravagant names.  Indigenous to the Gnome Lands are Goblins, who are the Gnomes’ sworn enemies.
