One of the Island States, Verindia and Barthely engaged in a decade-long “cold war” known as the Ministry Crisis, to determine which of the two most powerful Island States would lead the confederacy.  Barthely won, only at Verindia’s begrudging concession.

Verindia’s strategic importance to the States still holds true: its two ports, Arkinia and Emrada, house much of the States’ navy.
